I had been following a pratice quite religiously uptil now.
At some point of my life, I made a promise to myself to always buy original books, in order that the author will get his royalty, especially when it came to reading non-technical books. Although I would have loved to do the same with technical books also, but the sheer number of books needed and the astronomical costs (in dollars) of foreign author books forced me to do photocopying.
But I had been always buying the novels in original copy. I stopped buying the pirated paperback copies the moment I started earning. I never liked e-books, since sitting and staring in front of computer is quite an uneasy position than resting on the bed and reading the books comfortably. Still I have friends who have read many ebooks on computer. Some friends in my earlier company were on bench for a couple of months and savoured the period to pursue their reading hobby :)
Now there are few more issues troubling me. The heap of novels in my collection is continuously increasing. The frequent shifting of my accomodation always hampered my plans to neatly store the books together. I had been piling them up in my home at Nasik. E-books are quite efficient when it comes to storage. You can have many of those on a thin disk. Maybe thats why some people continue to read e-books. But not me. Although my list of to-be-read books scares me when I consider the space needed to store them, I have not chosen to read e-books. And to just mention recently read books- I completed 'Da Vinci ..' and found it good. Next on the list is The Fountainhead. Lots of friends have recommended it from a long period.
The reason I wrote this post is that I found a site with many novels in e-books format. Including the two I mentioned here! Whether or not to provide the url to my friends, is another confusing question!
